Gateway South Community Leaders Focused on Developing

Quality of Life Plan, Cancels Plans for Parade

Nearly a decade after its celebrated return as a cherished community event for the Southside communities of Indianapolis and the entire city, we have made the difficult decision to cancel plans for the 2016 Miracle Mile Parade, scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 3rd.

To our many sponsors and to everyone who lined the parade route and enjoyed this annual celebration, we say thank you. We enjoyed very much the opportunity to celebrate the Labor Day Holiday with you, your family and friends.

We appreciate, too, the positive and lasting impact that the Miracle Mile Parade has had on the resurgence and economic growth that has occurred over the past decade. And, please be assured that the Gateway Community Alliance, as an organization, is stronger than ever and they are continuing in their efforts as it regards economic redevelopment and community growth.

Through our partnership, we have seen more than 35 million dollars in new investments from the private sector. To be sure, none of this would have been possible without your support. Because of this, we have been able to revitalize and improve the quality of life in our Southside neighborhoods and businesses for years to come.

We are continuing, too, with our unwavering commitment to building on a long-term strategy to encourage retailers, small businesses and others to join us in our efforts to stay on the path of rediscovering the Gateway South. In adding to the foundation we’ve built, Phase Two of our strategic plan will include the development of a “quality of life” plan and we will soon resume our Quarterly Leadership Luncheons and Business After Hours receptions.

Being able to bring back the pageantry and tradition of the original Miracle Mile Parade was our pleasure and we are especially grateful for all of the support and enthusiasm that the Parade and its many activities – including the annual car show and concert – created for all of us and the integral part it played in celebrating our seven Southside communities.
